April 2014: Mercat del Ram

With the spring arrival, Vic celebrates the Mercat del Ram, a fair dedicated to the agriculture and livestock sector

From 11 to 13 April, with the spring arrival, Vic celebrates the Mercat del Ram, one of the most important annual fairs in the city and a national reference for the agriculture and livestock sector. Moreover the fair has an important traditional character and it is very rooted to the essence of Osona region.

This fair has his origins in medieval times and it’s organized by the City Council.  It revolves around the livestock sector, agriculture and agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles, horticulture and gardening, food and gastronomy, tourism, renewable resources, and others. And all this is complemented with equestrian shows and Livestock Technical Conferences.

The fair is mainly located in the Sucre zone, where the visitor will find the livestock machinery, commercial vehicles and cars. The Peasant Market, however, is located on the Passeig Avenue, in the centre of Vic, as well as the institutions information, gastronomy and tourism. Finally, competitions, exhibitions and equestrian championships, this year will be located, for second time, in the sports area.

With the celebration of the Mercat del Ram, Vic fills the streets with several cultural and festive activities for a broad audience, during these days before Easter.
